PARKSTON, S.D. — The Sully Buttes Chargers earned an emotional one-point win Monday afternoon at the annual Parkston Classic as they outlasted Canistota, 43-42, in girls basketball action. The Chargers earned their first win with Susie Rilling at the helm as she covers for head coach Mark Senftner. Coach Senftner was pictured on social media watching the game via live video stream as he awaits his initial surgery for a recently discovered brain tumor. That procedure is scheduled for tomorrow at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. The Lady Chargers improved to 3-2 on the young season with the win. Prior to the girls game, the Charger boys faced a difficult opponent and came up short in a 59-34 loss to Parker, a Class A team who is now 4-1 to start their season, while the Chargers slip to 1-3. Next action for both Sully Buttes teams will be a girls/boys double-header at Mobridge-Pollock on Saturday afternoon, which can be heard on STAR 99 KOLY-FM and also seen on the STAR 99 page of drgnews.com.
