BROOKINGS – SDSU women’s and men’s basketball stopped North Dakota Friday at Frost Arena.
The Jackrabbit women won their ninth straight, 81-52 over the Fighting Hawks. Tylee Irwin scored 20 for South Dakota State (12-2, 5-0). Myah Selland scored 19 with seven rebounds. SDSU had a 19-0 run in the first quarter and eventually led by as many as 31.
Behind 61 percent shooting and 14-of-22 three-pointers, the South Dakota State men (9-3, 3-0) defeated North Dakota 92-73. Noah Friedel led five Jackrabbits in double figures with 24 points. Luke Appel scored 15. Alex Arians and Douglas Wilson each had 12. Baylor Scheierman scored 10 with 10 rebounds. SDSU now has 31 straight home wins.
Both teams will again host North Dakota in Brookings Saturday.
