MACOMB, IL – Hannah Sjerven hit a putback in the game’s last minute to put South Dakota women’s basketball ahead for good Saturday in a 61-56 win at Western Illinois.
Sjerven scored 17 points and 12 rebounds. Liv Korngable led the Coyotes (10-3, 6-0) with 21 points. Sully Buttes alum Chloe Lamb scored nine points.
This was easily the closest win of the year for USD. Eight of the Coyotes’ 10 wins have been by double digits.

Tasos Kamateros scored a career-high 21 points Saturday as South Dakota men’s basketball held off Western Illinois for an 84-74 road win. Stanley Umude scored 14 with 11 rebounds. Kruz Perrott-Hunt scored a career-high 12 points.
USD (8-6, 6-0) gained its seventh straight win with 52 percent shooting, including 62 percent in the first half.
The Coyote women and men will host Omaha in Vermillion on Friday and Saturday.
