GRAND FORKS, ND – Three second-half touchdowns brought North Dakota back from a halftime deficit to defeat South Dakota State Saturday, 28-17 at the Alerus Center.
Mark Gronowski threw two first-quarter touchdown passes to Jaxon Janke to give SDSU a 14-7 lead at halftime. But the Fighting Hawks then took the lead in the third quarter’s last minute on a touchdown pass from Tommy Schuster to Garrett Maag.
Janke had seven catches for 161 yards, both career-highs. Gronowski was 16-of-302 for 309 yards. Pierre Strong rushed for 95 yards on 17 carries.
The Jackrabbits are 1-1 and will host Western Illinois Saturday at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.
