TYNDALL – Pole vaulter Jaden Peters of Wagner set a state record Tuesday, clearing 16 feet, one and a half inches at the Little Missouri Valley Conference track & field meet.
Andy Hendricksen of Rapid City Stevens had set the record in 1995 with 16 feet, one inch.
Peters had attempted to tie that mark at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays but could not clear the height.
Chad Peters, Jaden’s father, and the Wagner track & field head coach, said that he believes Jaden can clear an ever higher bar before the end of the season, as he will soon have new and longer poles.
