Fort Pierre and the Stanley County Fairgrounds are hosting the 72nd annual South Dakota State High School Finals Rodeo today through Sunday (June 15-20).
Finals Rodeo Association board member Marty Philips from Winner says they’re expecting around 300 participants. He says the action starts today with the cutting and reined cow horse events at 4pm CT.
Philips says the first of four rodeo performances starts at 9am CT Thursday.
But, he says, there are other activities associated with the rodeo finals happening as well.
The state’s top high school rodeo athletes are competing for championship saddles, buckles and prizes– along with a place on South Dakota’s team at the National High School Finals Rodeo next month (July 18-24, 2021) in Lincoln, Nebraska.
