ABERDEEN – Lincoln and Jefferson gave Sioux Falls wins Thursday in the first round of the SDHSAA AA State Softball Tournament at Koehler Hall Of Fame Field at Northern State University. Second seed Harrisburg was blanked by Brandon Valley.
A weather delay pushed the schedule back and darkness postponed the Brookings-O’Gorman first round game. It will be played at 8:00 AM on Friday before the consolation and semifinal games.
Sioux Falls Lincoln 7, Yankton 1
Lincoln (17-2) scored their runs over two innings, with three runs in the third inning and four in the fourth. Avery Dorman and Payton Seefeldt each drove in two runs. Winning pitcher Madison Evans struck out eight in five innings.
Kyra Tjeerdsma had two hits for Yankton (12-8).
Sioux Falls Jefferson 8, Sioux Falls Washington 2
Jefferson’s 13-hit attack led to the win. Brianna Herndon had two singles and two RBI. Emma Buie knocked three hits. Whitney Portner pitched the complete game for Jefferson (16-4), striking out six.
Tierney Schramm had two hits for Washington (13-6).
Brandon Valley 10, Harrisburg 0
Danielle Schoby homered twice and drove in four for the Lynx (11-6) in their upset of second seed Harrisburg. Jordan Gabert and Shelby Ackerman combined on the three-hit shutout with seven strikeouts.
Harrisburg (17-4) committed three errors.
