REDFIELD – A superb season for Dell Rapids ended with a state championship.
On Tuesday, Dell Rapids edged Elk Point-Jefferson 4-2 to win the American Legion Class B state championship.
Two runs scored for Dell Rapids on a sacrifice bunt to tie the game in the bottom of the third inning. A sacrifice fly by Aiden Boechler then gave Dell Rapids the lead.
Dell Rapids, who had lost to Elk Point-Jefferson Monday to end a 28-game winning streak, finished at 29-3 and won the program’s first title since 2018.
