RAPID CITY – It’s two in a row for the Tanagers.
Vermillion, who won its first boys golf team state championship in 2022, held off Tea Area by one shot Tuesday to become a repeat winner of the SDHSAA Class A Boys Golf State Championship at Hart Ranch Golf Course.
Vermillion ended with 642, including 334 on Tuesday, to finish just ahead of Tea Area, who had trailed by 16 shots following the first 18 holes.
Anthony Lanham became West Central’s first individual state champion. He shot 75 on Tuesday after Monday’s 68 to finish at one-under 143, two shots better than Vincent VanLiere of St. Thomas More, whose 70 was the only sub-par individual round on Tuesday.
Chamberlain finished fifth with 679. The Cubs’ Dakota Munger was third individually at 151 (78 Tuesday). Other Cubs’ scores were 164 by Sandler Wiekamp (86 Tuesday), 183 by London Houska (94 Tuesday), 184 by Cannon Speer (94 Tuesday) and 191 by Chase McQuirk (91 Tuesday).
Winner was 11th at 724. Their individual scores were: Ryder Halligan 170 (83 Tuesday), Karson Keiser 172 (86 Tuesday), Maxton Brozik 190 (95 Tuesday), Landon Calhoon 192 (97 Tuesday and Carter Craven 199 (102 Tuesday).
Two Mobridge-Pollock golfers competed: William Blankartz with 187 (93 Tuesday) and Jacob Zornes with 193 (99 Tuesday).
