Due to cold temps and wind, the City of Pierre is canceling some summer recreation classes this morning (June 11, 2026):
- Tennis 8am-12pm
- Pickleball 10am-12pm
- Swimming Lessons 10am-12pm
- T-Ball 9am – 12pm
The safety of participants is the Pierre Recreation Department’s top priority. Summer Recreation activities may be canceled or modified due to severe weather, lightning, unsafe field conditions, temperatures below 65 degrees, or other weather-related concerns.
Families are encouraged to sign up for the City of Pierre’s text message notification system to receive cancellation alerts. To sign up:
- Visit the City of Pierre website at www.cityofpierre.org.
- Select “Notify Me.”
- Enter your mobile phone number and click “Save.”
- Subscribe to “Summer Rec Cancellations or Changes.”
In addition to text alerts, weather cancellations and program updates will also be posted on the City of Pierre Parks and Recreation Facebook page.
