Timber Lake’s ground attack proved decisive Friday night as the Panthers rolled to a 44-24 victory over Herreid Selby Area, limiting the visitors to just 85 rushing yards while stacking up 240 of their own. The Panthers finished with 360 total yards of offense, balanced by 120 yards through the air and a dominant 240 on the ground. They scored five rushing touchdowns and one passing score while committing no turnovers. Penalties, however, were a recurring issue as Timber Lake was flagged for more than 90 yards.
Pete Maher earned Venture Communications Player of the Game honors after a multi-dimensional performance that included 117 rushing yards, 36 passing yards and four touchdowns. Blaise Lei added a strong complementary effort with 14 carries for 108 yards and a touchdown. Sharing quarterback duties, Kanton Hunt completed the aerial attack with 84 yards and a touchdown pass.
Herreid Selby Area generated 313 total yards but struggled to establish a consistent running game. Quarterback Thatcher Kihne went 9-of-15 for 228 yards and two touchdowns through the air. Porter Gregg was the standout before exiting early with an ankle injury, contributing 82 rushing yards, 95 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Kaden Russel hauled in two catches for 83 yards and a score. The visitors were hampered by turnovers, finishing with three (two interceptions and one fumble) and 65 yards in penalties. Despite the aerial production, Herreid Selby Area’s inability to run the ball consistently allowed Timber Lake to control the line of scrimmage and pull away for the 44-24 win.
